Hurricane Ike
Dear Jonah,
Today was your very first Irving soccer association game. You are now with the big boys and of course Hurricane Ike decided to hit. We didn't think you would have a game today because of the rain but sure enough they said ya'll would still play as long as it wasn't lightning. When you heard this you were so excited. "Alright mom, I'm gonna get to play in the rain, that will be fun! :)" You loved it! The soccer fields are twice as big as the Y and the grass is so much neater. With the rain pouring down all the parents stood outside and cheered on their kids. It was so much fun to watch you play in the rain. We got soaked yes but you were a star. You scored three goals today and I love to watch you as you dribble the ball down the field. You are so intent on what you are doing. You are concentrating so hard and you run with your mouth open and your hair flying! You want me to take tons of pictures and with out me prodding you tell me cheese and pose. It's so amazing to watch you play. I never liked soccer and I don't enjoy watching it on TV like your father does but when you are playing I can't take my eyes off of you! You like to run the wrong way on the field too. Your other team runs in one direction and you take the ball away and run the opposite way. I ask you about why you do this and you say "because I like too." Secretly I think it's because you don't want anyone to take the ball away from you. It's easier to kick it in the opposite direction where no one is running for it then the way you are supposed to go and everyone is going for it. But, we will work on this...
Half time came and you had to sit out for a quarter. The coach likes to rotate the players and you are so sad. You come to me and you say mom I have to tell you something. ??? You pull me down and whisper in my ear. "Why can't I keep playing? Why do I have to sit out?" Poor baby. You'll turn will come again.
Love always and forever,
Mommy
P.S. Ya'll won the game 6-5! :)

Did you guys get hammered there too with all the rain? They kept saying it would go towards Dallas after it was done with Houston. Man, it looked (and, still does) bad! That's great though that Jonah had so much fun playing out in the rain.. I swear that's one of Maddie and Faith's favorite things to do.
Way to go, Jonah on all of your goals!
